SFSU Dining Services Earns Plant-Forward Challenge Award

Sets a new standard in the Western region, offering an impressive 50% of plant-forward menu options, doubling the 25% goal set by Sodexo

San Francisco State University (SFSU) Dining Services has earned the prestigious Plant-Forward Challenge award by Sodexo, recognizing its leadership in sustainable dining. The accolade was given to the university's dining team for surpassing expectations and setting a new standard in the Western region, offering an impressive 50% of plant-forward menu options, doubling the 25% goal set by Sodexo.

The driving force behind this achievement includes General Manager HeeBong Hyun and Executive Chef Bradley Petway, whose innovative approach not only met but exceeded Sodexo’s sustainability benchmarks. Their efforts to significantly increase plant-based options have also contributed to reducing the university's carbon footprint.

“We’re proud to have taken bold steps toward a more sustainable future,” said HeeBong Hyun, General Manager of SFSU Dining Services. “By increasing our plant-forward offerings, we’re not only meeting the demand of today’s students but also helping reduce our environmental impact. This award is a reflection of our team’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.”
