Sip & Bees Happy: Honey-Infused, Bee-Benefit Cocktail Kick-Off

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — In a bee-autiful collaboration to support the world's declining bee population, six establishments in the San Francisco Bay Area, along with Scotch-whisky purveyor Aberfeldy, are promoting honey-inspired cocktails, with a portion of proceeds donated in actual bees to City Bees, a home-grown group devoted to bee-sustainability.

Coinciding with this month's National Bee Day on Aug. 17, the area bars, four in San Francisco and two in Oakland, will donate 12 bees for every drink purchased and in the customers' names to City Bees, based in San Francisco. The cocktails vary and are for a limited time only.

The effort is part of Bacardi-owned Aberfeldy brand’s global Barrels and Bees program, which seeks to champion local beekeepers and their honey as the key ingredient for signature cocktails.

• Specialty cocktail: The Song Remains the Same. Key ingredients: Aberfeldy 12, Sekka Hills honey, Cherry Herring, lemon, orange bitters. Cocktail availability: Monday, Aug. 5 through Saturday, Aug. 31. *The bar will be matching the brand's donations to City Bees for all Aberfeldy cocktails sold throughout the month.
