The StayWell! Initiative

EAH Housing offers its residents many programs as part of StayWell!, its resident services initiative which promotes a healthy lifestyle.

EAH Housing offers its residents many programs as part of StayWell!, its resident services initiative which promotes a healthy lifestyle.

The StayWell! initiative has six core elements:

Healthy Eating
To promote healthy food choices and options, EAH Housing partners with different food banks and produce programs, as well as offers community gardens for residents to tend. Several EAH Housing communities have brought in programs such as Senior Brown Bags and congregate meals, or have cooking lessons for residents to learn how to prepare healthy meals.

Active Living
EAH promotes an active lifestyle by encouraging residents to attend health and fitness sessions. Onsite classes and groups cater to a wide variety of ages and abilities, including classes such as Tai Chi, dance, yoga, and walking clubs, among others.

Community Building
EAH sponsors fun, family-friendly events like National Night Out, monthly birthday potlucks, and picnics in the summer, where residents can get to know each other on a personal level and become friends.

Physical and Mental Health
EAH Housing takes physical and mental health seriously, and because of that, part of the StayWell! initiative helps bring in resources for residents to take charge of their own preventative health measures. In addition to physical fitness activities, EAH hosts health services and fairs onsite, offers public health nurse visits, and hosts health screenings because it is important for residents to have ready access to these services.

Education and Technology
Different people have different educational needs. EAH Housing seeks to meet those needs by offering practical lessons and enrichment opportunities that are available to all residents. Whether that is digital literacy, assistance with filing taxes and other financial services, after-school expanded learning or working towards ESL proficiency or GED certification, EAH works to ensure residents have all of the opportunities they need.

Civic Engagement
Lastly, EAH Housing seeks to aid residents in becoming more involved as citizens of the wider community. By engaging in civic activities like Get Out the Vote and volunteering, residents can expand their networks and truly make a difference, as well as gain additional opportunities to build their leadership skills.
