Two Police Officers Injured When Suspects Drives Vehicle Into Them

The Oakland officers were trying to arrest a person under the influence when the suspect drove off ramming into them.

OAKLAND, CA — Two police officers were injured Saturday night in Oakland when a suspect's car hit them, police said Monday.

The Oakland officers were trying to arrest a person under the influence inside a vehicle just before 10 p.m. in the 5200 block of Wentworth Street, Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong said.

The suspect drove off, hitting the officers, Armstrong said. One suffered head trauma and was taken to a hospital. That officer has since been released, the chief said.

The other officer was not hospitalized.
