Uber Adds 'Panic Button' To App

If you feel threatened, dial 911 directly from the app.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — After well publicized crimes involving Uber drivers, the company has added a "panic button" to its app which allows riders to dial 911.

The enhancement was announced just last month and went live on Tuesday in the US after being tested in India, according to reports.

There's a new safety center in the app, and that's where you'll find the 911 call capability. You need to simply swipe up on the safety center icon, then tap 911 assistance.
