3. Breaking: North Fire reported in San Luis Obispo County on Aug. 17 (sanluisobispo.com) — A new wildfire named the North Fire was reported on private land in San Luis Obispo County at 9:33 p.m. on August 17. Officials have not yet determined the cause or containment status, so residents should stay alert for updates from fire authorities and local agencies as conditions evolve.
4. San Luis Obispo County to receive $16 Million from PG & E to offset Diablo Canyon impact (ksby.com) — San Luis Obispo County will receive more than $16 million from PG&E over the next two years to offset impacts from Diablo Canyon Power Plant operations, supporting local governments, schools, and public safety. The agreement, announced August 17, restores community funding that wasn't included in the plant's extension through 2030 and won't be paid by state taxpayers or utility ratepayers.
