SAN ANSELMO, CA – Two women were arrested on suspicion of auto burglary after they were apprehended with a small child and two allegedly stolen handguns in their car Saturday in San Anselmo, police said.
According to the Central Marin Police Authority, police received a call from a Greenbrae resident around 3:30 p.m. reporting that he discovered a woman allegedly rifling through his car while it was parked at his home on Via Casitas.
The caller confronted the woman and she allegedly got into a BMW 7-series car parked nearby and drove away, Central Marin police Sgt. Alberto Duenas said. The caller described the car and its driver and passenger to police, and the information was broadcast to all Central Marin police units.

Within minutes, Duenas said, officers stopped the car in San Anselmo on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at San Francisco Boulevard. Police identified Marissa Walls, 22, of Isleton, as the driver, and Ashley Lopez, 33, of Pinole, as the passenger. A sleeping 5-year-old child was in the backseat, Duenas said.
Walls and Lopez were subsequently arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail, Duenas said. The child was taken into protective custody and later picked up by a relative.

Police discovered two loaded handguns previously reported stolen in Napa and San Joaquin counties inside the victim's car in Greenbrae, Duenas said. Police also found property from a 2016 Contra Costa County auto burglary, Duenas said.
Walls was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, receiving stolen property, being a felon in possession of a loaded gun and concealing a loaded gun in a vehicle, Duenas said. Lopez was arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment and conspiracy.
