On Tuesday night, two campfires on Camp Tamarancho were the backdrop for an evening ceremony celebrating the achievements of five boys in Cub Scout's Pack 7 of Fairfax. These fifth grade boys earned the Arrow of Light Award, Cub Scout’s highest honor. Requiring hard work and perseverance, the boys must demonstrate skills in areas such as first aid, the outdoors, and citizenship, and provide service and stewardship in their communities. Therefore, the Arrow of Light badge is the only Cub Scout award that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform while as a youth and an adult.
The Arrow of Light ceremony was led by Cubmaster Doug Addis and Committee Chair Rick Holland, and the following boys earned the prestigious award: Chance Addis, Aidan Aguilar, Clayton Flenoid, Nicholas Giedt, and Abisai Salinas. Representatives from Boy Scout Troop 15 were present to welcome the boys and Talako Lodge members of the Order of Arrow performed a Native American ceremony to recognize the boys’ achievements.
Pack 7 began serving the boys of Fairfax in 1940. The Pack currently has approximately 30 boys from 1st through 5th grades and meets on the second Tuesday of each month. For more information, please visit www.pack7fairfax.com or email pack7fairfax@yahoo.com.
