Annual Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival Set for This Weekend

Celebrate the magic of fall and discover unique works of art in the redwood grove of Old Mill Park.

The 58th Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival on September 20 and 21 will showcase over 140 fine artists from all across the country and offer live music and children’s entertainment.

The juried works include prints, jewelry, paintings, woodwork, photography and sculpture. Many artists are fortunate to return every year and there are plenty of new artists who get juried in keeping the festival a popular mixture of tradition and novelty. The festival, held in the majestic Redwood grove of Old Mill Park in down town Mill Valley, is rated one of the top 10 fine arts and crafts shows in the Northwest and a beloved Mill Valley tradition. New this year at the Festival will be five juried art installations along the creek: Charlie Callahan “See 4-Sail”, Jeff Manson “Temporary Headquarters, Driftwood Shack”, Mardi Burnham “Before the Old Mill”,

Xander Weaver-Scull “Endangered Species” and Amy Pollman “Trouble on Candy River.”

The committee has also decided to invite two iconic Bay Area Artists to the show as special guests. Make sure to check out ceramicist Suki Diamond and painter Davis Perkins near the info booth.

The Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival is unique in that it is produced by a volunteer committee of local artists! These committed volunteers have given the Bay Area community a spectacular festival to enjoy for over half a century. Any surplus funds from this non-profit festival go right back to the community for park improvements. The festival also supports young artists. Since 2010 they have awarded Tam High art students funds for art education through their Emerging Artist Awards.

Ride to the Festival in style! MV Transport will be providing the FREE bus transport service for the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival this year. Park at Tam High and ride in style. These state of the art shuttles are plush, roomy and easy turning. – Check the route and stops on the festival website.

Children’s Grove Entertainment

Each year the children’s entertainment draws hundreds of youngster to the fairy ring in the lower park during the festival. Kids have it “made in the shade” with magic, marionettes, music and more! Face painting and hands on crafts will bring out the artist within. Visit the website for details.
