The San Anselmo Arts Commission is pleased to sponsor Ross Valley local Brian Ayuso’s exhibition of paintings at Marin Coffee Roasters in San Anselmo.
Brian Ayuso was born and raised in southern California and moved to Marin County in 1997. He attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. His career has included being a Senior Illustrator for a major aerospace corporation and the Art Director for a record company. He has owned his own graphic design company for the past 25 years.
Brian enjoys painting on location outdoors, or “en plein air”. He explains. “I enjoy paintings en plein air because when painting out in the elements each of your senses is engaged, and all of that sensory input translates into your painting. The most successful paintings are those that best express that sensory input.”

Most of his paintings are created with palette knives. He will sometimes blend his colors directly on the canvas as he is painting instead of premixing them on the palette. Working this way allows for quick, intuitive color application.
He is a member of the Marin Open Studios Plein Air Group and has also been an invited guest at “Keep Tahoe Blue” plein air paint-out.
