Candidate Filing Opens for November Election

Nominations accepted through Aug. 7

Your opportunity for public participation is here. Monday, July 13, is the first day for candidates to file nomination papers for local offices in the Nov. 3 Uniform District Election.

The nomination period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, August 7, with an extension to Wednesday, Aug. 12, if an incumbent officeholder does not file.

There are open seats on the Marin County Board of Education, school district boards, city and town councils, and special districts, including community service districts, fire protection districts, public utility districts, sanitary districts, and water districts. Candidates (except for city and town offices) may pick up and file their nomination papers at the Marin County Elections Department, Suite 121, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. The hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7.

Candidates for city and town offices must pick up and file nomination papers at the office of their city or town clerk.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The deadline to register to vote in this election isMonday, Oct. 19.
