Hooked on Marin?

Last year’s popular Hooked on Marin Speaker Series returns for a second season with events in October, November and December of 2013, and January 2014. The four moderator-led events feature panels of people — including Ben Fong-Torres of Rolling Stone magazine — who have been or are deeply involved in local Marin areas of interest.

Each event focuses on one aspect of what makes Marin County a unique place to live. Terry McGovern, one of the Bay area’s most versatile performers, moderates. The four events are:

Weds Dec 4, 7pmTrains in Marin: Past and Future. Corte Madera Community Center. Speaker: Richard G. Torney, “Railfan” and life-long Marin native, will talk about how for 40 years, clean “green” electric trains connected Fairfax, San Rafael, San Anselmo and Mill Valley with a ferry terminal in Sausalito. Torney will share historic photos of Marin trains from the 1870s-1960s and compare them with recent photos of the same locations.

Weds Jan 15, 7pmMarin County Rock ‘n Roll Music History. Corte Madera Community Center.
