Fire Destroys Townhome, Damages 2 Others In Fairfax

A dog died in the fire, officials said, and medics treated residents for minor injuries.

FAIRFAX, CA – A three-alarm fire destroyed one townhome, damaged two others and killed a dog Monday in Fairfax.

The fire was reported shortly before 6 p.m. on Ace Court, according to the Ross Valley Fire Department. Arriving firefighters found a townhome engulfed in flames and called a second alarm to keep the flames from spreading to nearby townhomes.

As crews battled the blaze, there were reports of the fire spreading into the wildland area behind the home, according to the Ross Valley Fire Department. Firefighters from Marin County extinguished the flames behind the home.

A third alarm was called in order to give relief to the initial firefighters and to help gain full control of the flames, according to the Ross Valley Fire Department. Marin County, San Rafael, Central Marin, Southern Marin and Kentfield fire departments responded to the scene.

The fire destroyed one townhome and caused major damage to two neighboring units, fire officials said.
