Flooding Temporarily Shuts Portion of Highway 101 Down
Heavy rainfall is causing problems around Marin County Wednesday.

Roadway flooding has blocked multiple lanes on U.S. Highway 101 in unincorporated Marin County Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Since the flooding was first reported at 3:22 a.m., the southbound lanes have been the most impacted. At first, flooding was initially blocking only one lane near the state Highway 1 connector ramp.
A sig-alert was issued 4:18 a.m. signaling the flooding of three right-hand lanes. All three lanes were reported opened at 7:04 a.m., but one of them was again closed a short time later, according to CHP logs.

CHP reports indicate that as of 9:51 a.m., the two leftmost lanes were open, but the numbers three and four lanes remained closed.
The Marin City offramp has been closed since just after 7 a.m. because of flooding.

The Marin Independent Journal reports that four inches of rain fell in Novato in about 12 hours.
This storm is expected to last into Thursday, bringing up to 4 inches of rain in coastal mountain areas and up to 2 inches in lower-lying urban area. There may be isolated thunderstorms, hail and strong winds in the higher coastal areas as well, according to the weather service.
