Heads Up, San Anselmo, Fairfax: First Installment of Property Taxes Due

Wednesday, December 10, is the last day to pay without penalty

The following is a news release from the County of Marin:

Wednesday, December 10, is the last day to pay the first installment of your Marin County 2014-2015 property tax bill without penalty. Taxpayers are encouraged to pay early to avoid penalties.

Payments sent by mail must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before December 10. Second installments are due April 10, 2015. Both installments may be paid with the first installment.

The Tax Collector mailed 91,983 tax bills on September 30. The 2014-2015 tax roll totals $850,735,978 compared with $810,242,226 the previous fiscal year. Property owners who have not received a tax bill, especially those who recently purchased real estate, should contact the Tax Collector’s Office.

Parcel tax exemption information, including exemptions for seniors, is available at www.marincounty.org/propertytaxexemptions. Eligibility for parcel tax exemptions is administered and determined by each taxing district.

Tax payments can be made online at www.marincounty.org/taxbillonline or paid by phone at (800) 985-7277. Taxpayers can call the Tax Collector at (415) 473-6133 for billing information and general customer service. An express payment drop box will be located under the MarinCounty Civic Center’s southern archway Peter Behr Drive during regular business hours onDecember 9 and 10.

The Tax Collector’s Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays with an extension to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10. The Tax Collector’s Office is in Suite 202 of the Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.
