It's Election Day, San Anselmo and Fairfax!

The following is a news release from the County of Marin:

Voters, today is your day. A day dedicated to every citizen to represent their opinion by voting. Without voting, citizens would not have the right, power, or liberty of choosing, or the ability to hold elected representatives accountable.

In November of 1863, President Abraham Lincoln delivered The Gettysburg Address in which he said “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” Voting is fundamental to preserving a strong democracy, and it is important to remember that outcomes depend on those who participate.

“The turnout in the 2010 gubernatorial election was over 76 percent. It would be great to surpass that number in this election,” said Marin County Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts.

In-person voting is offered until 8 p.m. at polling places or in the Elections Office at the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by 8 p.m. in order to count. Voters may return ballots to any polling location in Marin or to the Elections Office in Suite 121 of the Civic Center. Voters may use the convenient and secure drop box stationed under the south arch of the Civic Center on Peter Behr Drive through8 p.m. Election Day.
