Marin Officials Warn San Anselmo, Fairfax Residents About Weekend Storm

The town of San Anselmo's flood horn will emit a warning in the event of imminent flooding.

SAN ANSELMO-FAIRFAX, CA – The Central Marin Police Authority is reminding Ross Valley residents about creek flooding preparedness in advance of heavy rains over the coming weekend.

The National Weather Service is predicting a series of strong winter storms beginning Friday evening. Information about storm preparedness is available at www.surfsananselmo.org.

The Ross Valley Fire Department and Marin County Flood Control and Resource Conservation District will maintain a monitoring system of the Fairfax, Sleepy Hollow, San Anselmo and Corte Madera creeks over the weekend at www.rossvalleyfire.org/services/creek-levels-weather.

In the event of imminent flooding, the town of San Anselmo's flood horn will emit a warning that consists of five blasts, a pause, five blasts, another pause and five more blasts. Residents should immediately seek higher ground.

Sandbags are available in San Anselmo on Sunny Hills Drive in the tennis courts parking lot. Residents must bring their own shovel.
