The Marin Municipal Water District is giving away cash for water-saving measures starting this weekend, district officials said.
Starting Saturday, the water district is offering $50 each for pool covers, hot water re-circulating systems, organic mulch, laundry-to-landscape greywater system components and rain barrels.

In order to be eligible, customers must make the purchases on or after Oct. 25, according to the agency.
MMWD board president Armando Quintero said the district chose the products based on studies that have shown they are effective at saving water and because customers had expressed interest in the products.
“We’re very excited to offer our customers five more ways to save water and money, particularly in light of the ongoing drought,” Quintero said in a statement.
The MMWD began offering rebates in September 2013 on high-efficiency toilets, high-efficiency clothes washers and smart irrigation controllers, which are primarily funded through Proposition 84, MMWD spokeswoman Ann Vallee said.
So far, customers have taken advantage of $179,910 in rebates from the state-sponsored program out of $862,500 available, Vallee said.
