Parenting Apart Classes for Divorced or Separated Couples

Family Service Agency of
Marin's new Parenting Apart Classes
for divorced or separated families will begin Wednesday, July 10 and meet every Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for six sessions. Childcare is
available. The program is offered for a sliding-scale fee that ranges between
$15 and $40. An in-person interview is required
before admission to the class; interviews are scheduled no later than one week
before the class begins.

Research has shown
that the level of conflict between separated or divorced parents
directly affects children’s development and mental health. Parenting
Apart teaches separated or divorced parents skills
that help their children manage the challenges and conflicts of a changing
family. "The class reassured me that my daughter will emerge from her parents' divorce in two homes with the support and attention
she needs to thrive," says Mark Solomons. Parents
attend classes separately, although both parents are
encouraged to participate at some point.

from Northgate Mall at 555 Northgate Drive.
