The Pastel Paintings of Richard Berkson Featured at Marin Coffee Roasters

The San Anselmo Arts Commission is pleased to announce our current featured artist at Marin Coffee Roasters. Ross Valley local Richard Berkson has studied drawing and painting at Wellesley College and the San Francisco Art Institute. Chalk pastels provide him tools to play with color and line. His style is both structured and improvisational, created in a playful, musical manner.

In his series of pastel paintings titled Musicians of San Anselmo, Berkson interprets the vibrant mix of musicians performing at the Marin Coffee Roasters in San Anselmo, California. These impressionistic images embody the energy and emotion of the performers, and amplify their musical rhythms through color and texture.
