Ross Valley Fire Department: Possible Flooding in Marin County

Rain is expected to continue Thursday, with the heaviest rainfall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

SAN ANSELMO-FAIRFAX, CA – Ross Valley Fire Department, which covers San Anselmo and Fairfax, alerted residents Wednesday about possible flooding in Marin County.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to continue Thursday, with the heaviest rainfall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. More than 2 inches of rainfall is expected in most county areas with over 4 inches possible in higher terrain, northern and coastal areas.

Heavy rain and breezy conditions with gusts reaching 50 mph are still on track during Thursday’s system, which is expected to also coincide with predicted high tides above 6 feet.

Officials said travelers should expect longer commute times with possible power outages, increased chances for roadway flooding and flooding within poorly draining areas, in addition to debris flows in hilly terrain locations.
