Community Facilities Master Planning

The Town has embarked on a project that will help determine what the community’s recreational needs, wants and dreams are, and how best to accommodate those needs in the coming years through repair, renovation or construction of new community facilities.

The process is entitled the San Anselmo Community Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) and it is just beginning now.  The basic framework includes asking residents their opinions about current recreation programs, activities and spaces, what they’d like to be improved or expanded, and what new programs and spaces they would like to see created.  The project team will take the information, analyze it, and develop recommendations as to how the needs can be accommodated.  Both the Isabel Cook Community Center and Robson Harrington Park will be considered for these improvements.

There are numerous ways for you to provide your input.  Questions will be asked using several outreach formats, including community kiosks set up in community gathering areas, at community meetings and through an online community survey.  Please be sure to take the online survey AND visit us at any or all of our outreach locations. We want to hear from as many people as we can.

The Town will be gathering input on the following days:

San Anselmo Library Tax Renewal

The Marin County Office of the Registrar of Voters mistakenly placed the Marin County’s Library tax measure on the San Anselmo Sample Ballot. The County has taken steps to correct this error and the actual San Anselmo ballots will only show San Anselmo’s Measure E.

Please know that San Anselmo residents will be voting ONLY on Measure E, which is the renewal of our Library’s parcel tax.

The Marin Independent Journal reported that it will cost the County $100,000 to correct the error. San Anselmo is NOT paying that money in any way—not from the General Fund or from Library parcel tax monies. This is an expense borne solely by Marin County.

If you have further questions or concerns, please contact Library Director Linda Kenton at 258-4656.

Log Cabin Memorial Day Event

American Legion Post 179 is hosting a free community event on Memorial Day.  This is a chance for all ages to come together to eat, drink, listen to great music and celebrate Memorial Day.  There will be music by three bands, Chrome Johnson, San Geronimo and the Kelly Peterson Trio.  The party starts at 1 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.  All are invited.

Ross Valley Watershed Program Update

Join Supervisor Katie Rice and the Flood Control District staff to learn about potential detention basin sites in the Fairfax area.  Topics to be covered include program status, detention basins in Fairfax, question and answer time and a discussion about next steps.  The meeting will be held at White Hill Middle School, 101 Glen Drive, Fairfax, in Building 400 (upstairs) on Monday, May 19, 2014, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  For more information, go to www.rossvalleywatershed.org.

Plastic Bag Regulation

At the meeting of Tuesday, May 27, the San Anselmo Town Council will consider an ordinance regulating the use of single use carryout plastic bags.  The meeting will be held in the Town Hall Council Chambers beginning at 7 p.m.  The staff report for the agenda item will be posted on the Town’s website on Friday afternoon, May 23, 2014, at http://www.townofsananselmo.org/index.aspx?NID=449.    The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

San Anselmo News, published weekly on Fridays, is available at the San Anselmo Town Hall, Library, and on the Public Notice Bulletin Board. It is also available on the Town’s website, www.townofsananselmo.org, and by email subscription.
