
Town Council Meeting Notes
At the meeting of Tuesday, July 23, the Town Council took the following actions:
· Approved the special event application for the “Dinner Under the Stars” event to be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013, from 6 to 10 p.m. In order to prepare for the event, San Anselmo Avenue will be closed from Magnolia to Tunstead at 12 p.m. on the day of the event. Traffic on San Anselmo Avenue will be detoured down Magnolia Avenue to Library Place and Tunstead to return to San Anselmo Avenue. At 4 p.m. San Anselmo Avenue will be closed from Tamalpais to Tunstead and Magnolia Avenue will be closed from San Anselmo Avenue to Library Place. The streets will be reopened at or before midnight. The event will be held in Imagination Park and on Magnolia and San Anselmo Avenues.

· Canceled the regular meetings scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 27, due to vacation scheduling.
· Awarded the construction contract for the 2013 Street Rehabilitation Project (Foss Avenue, Durham Road, Santa Barbara Avenue, Pasadena Avenue [from Santa Barbara Avenue approximately 327 feet], Salinas Avenue [from Santa Barbara Avenue to San Francisco Blvd.], and Santa Cruz Avenue), in the amount of $479,080. Of that, $147,280 will be paid for by the Ross Valley Sanitary District.

· Re-appointed Janice Przybylzki to the Ross Valley Paramedic Authority (RVPA), appointed Bob Stein to serve as the RVPA alternate representative and re-appointed Stephen Thompson to the Tax Equity Board.
· Confirmed the appointment of youth commissioners for various boards and commissions. Congratulations to all six youth commissioners, all of whom are currently students at Sir Francis Drake High School.

· Discussed the parameters for a proposed ballot measure placing a one-half cent sales tax measure for general purposes on the November 2013 ballot. More on this below.
· Discussed possible paving configurations for Magnolia Avenue as well as drainage changes.
· Conducted a public hearing on the Proposed 2013-14 Budget and Work Plan and directed staff to return at the special meeting of Monday, August 5, 2013 for final approval.
· Approved the Town’s response to three Grand Jury reports, including “Holding the Bag,” Garbology in Marin: Wasted Energy,” and Marin’s Retirement Health Care Benefits: The Money Isnt’ There.”
· Approved contract with the Office of Administrative Hearings to conduct hearings for the Town.

Special Meeting, Monday, August 5
At the meeting of Monday, August 5, the Town Council will consider putting a local funding measure on the November 5, 2013 ballot. Please join us for a discussion on this important issue or send your thoughts to the Town Manager at dstutsman@townofsananselmo.org. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Town Council Chambers.

Slow Down!
Town staff has been literally inundated with complaints from residents about danger from speeding cars. Complaints have been received from neighbors on Woodland, Bolinas, Laurel, Ross, Broadmoor and Hilldale about cars driving too fast on local streets, endangering children and pets. Please keep an eye on your speedometer and slow down when driving through neighborhoods.
