Town of Fairfax offers Senior Saturday Social and Age-Friendly Fair

September 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fairfax Women's Club, 46 Park Road, Fairfax.

The Town of Fairfax Recreation and Community Services Department is hosting a free Senior Saturday Social and Age-Friendly Fair from 10 a.m. to noon September 19 at the Fairfax Women’s Club, 46 Park Road. The public is invited to enjoy tea, coffee and refreshments along with information on local and County services, music and gift card prizes.

Fairfax is responding to an aging population, using guidelines of the World Health Organization’s Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities. “We are excited to be able to offer this to the community and put more effort into our programs for seniors.” said Anne Mannes, Town of Fairfax Recreation and Community Services Manager. The Saturday event is part of the town’s intention to connect its older citizens with resources that can be life and health enhancing. Social connection and community building are part of the day’s plan, too, as is the opportunity to participate in the town’s move to improve services that benefit its senior residents.

Representatives will also be on-hand from Marin County agencies, nonprofit organizations and local businesses who offer a range of housing and health care services and resources, including the Marin Health and Human Services department, Fairfax Community Wellness Center, Marin Center for Independent Living, Lilypad Homes and the Marin Humane Society.
