Many veterans of our recent overseas military conflicts are struggling to acclimate to civilian life. They need help in successful re-entry into society. They need to know our country cares about them and will support them in their new journey.
Starting in May, classes at College of Marin do just that. Offered by the nonprofit Reset-Go and COM’s Veterans Center, the free class is a hands-on workshop, incorporating thought-provoking questions, discussion, art and tools to gain focus, clarify goals, build confidence and get support to move into action. Defining a goal and creating a personalized strategic plan gives attendees direction, focus and motivation. Included are strategies to monitor, adjust and adapt the plan for success. Attendees learn to thrive rather than simply survive.
The class is from 6:00 – 9:00 PM on Wednesdays from May 7 – May 28. All four classes must be attended to get the full benefit of the course. For those who complete the course, 30 minutes of individual coaching is available. For continued support, a free one-year membership to a private online Facebook community administered by a coach is also offered. Register for the course at www.reset-go.org.
The sessions are taught by two North Bay women with close ties to veterans affairs and life coaching. Marilyn Spoja and Ann Moreno, co-founders of Reset-Go, have many years of experience coaching people through transition periods. Marilyn, the mother of a Marine and a Blue Star Mother of Marin, and Ann, the daughter of a career Army officer, are vitally interested and committed to supporting veteran transition. They are based in Marin and Sonoma counties. For more information, visit www.reset-go.org.
