Video: San Anselmo Creek Rises During Storm

By 9 p.m. Tuesday, city officials said the creek level dropped to 10 feet from a high of 13.65 feet.

SAN ANSELMO, CA – The flood horn was sounded and mandatory evacuations were ordered in the town of San Anselmo Tuesday evening.

The flood horn went off at 6:45 p.m. and the downtown area was evacuated due to flooding.

The town experienced flooding from storm drains and sewer manholes along San Anselmo Avenue at Tamalpais, Ross, Mariposa and Bolinas Avenues, as well as Morningside Avenue, mostly due to overwhelmed storm drains not being able to drain into the creek.

There was also breach of San Anselmo Creek at Nokomis Avenue. By 9 p.m. Tuesday, city officials said the creek level dropped to 10 feet from a high of 13.65 feet.
