Is it cold enough out there for you? I'm currently on the DL (disabled list/injured) so instead of hitting the icy trails, I'm sitting inside a climate-controlled indoor cycling class at Pelo in San Rafael getting my cardio on (and actually enjoying it!).
As a runner, you've probably been injured at some point too (unless you're 73 year old 5k/half marathon/marathon/ultramarathon champ Hans Schmid, Kona Ironman 2013 Gayle Shimokaji or world famous ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes - all from Marin - then you have an injury antibody). Everything is going well, you're running strong, then whammo. Something happens. It can be a major bummer. Not only for your body, but for your mind as well. But that's when having a community of runners around you can actually help. I was supposed to run the California International Marathon in Sacramento to help score for Marin's own Tamalpa Runners Club (the largest running club in the Bay Area!), but had to put it on ice (well it was 29 degrees at the start, so I thought I'd make a frozen joke... anyway...). While I wasn't out there, I had lots of great moral support from my fellow team mates that braved the weather and pulled in PRs (personal records) and BQs (Boston Qualifying times).
At Tamalpa Runners, our goal is to build a supportive community around runners: trail runners, road runners, ultra runners, injured runners (yep, that's me), those who used to run, and those who will run again. In other words, any former, current or future runner ;-)
Here's a photo of one of the younger members in the group pulling a tractor tire at one of the workout sessions led by Coach Kees Tuinzing every Saturday morning. Everyone is welcome. Hope you come out and join us.
