San Mateo – Masterworks Chorale invites singers to audition for its joyous 54th Season, “Into the Light”. Artistic Director Dr. Bryan Baker has programmed a wonderfully diverse season with classic masterworks, such as the Mozart Requiem, the beautiful choral rendition of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and Carmina Burana, plus newer masterworks, such as Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man; A Mass for Peace, and an exciting new work by Ola Gjeilo. Norwegian-American composer Ola Gjeilo is one of the most popular choral/orchestra composers today, and Masterworks is extremely pleased to commission a new work with him and present the World Premiere!

In addition to the two classical concerts in November and March, Masterworks will present two December Holiday concerts, one specifically for children and the other a more traditional concert. Both concerts feature sing-alongs and an opulent cookie buffet, with a festive Holiday Market following the traditional concert.

May will be a fun a wide-ranging celebration of British music through the ages, called British Invasion. The group will sing choral arrangements from the Beatles to Britten, Dowland to Adele and Sting; sure to be an audience favorite.

In June Masterworks Chorale will perform Carmina Burana as guests with El Camino Youth Symphony at Flint Center, an exciting and fulfilling new collaboration.
