Burlingame Police Warn of Scam Calls Claiming to be from Police

The caller ID suggests that calls are coming from Burlingame PD, but police stressed that they do not make solicitations calls.

Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for fraudulent calls, where the callers claim to be from the Burlingame Police Department.

Police said they were made aware of the calls Thursday, in which the caller attempts to solicit donations from the intended victims, according to police.

In the two instances that were reported to police, the caller ID function of the intended victim’s telephone showed the calls to be coming from the Burlingame Police Department’s main business line, which is (650) 777-4100, police said.

Police stressed the calls are a scam.

The police department does not solicit donations through the telephone, police said.
