Update: Driver, Passenger Flee Car Before Caltrain Obliterates It

Trains were delayed up to an hours and a half.

Update:

A tow truck cleared the tracks at 7:45 p.m. After the tracks were inspected and cleared, normal service resumed, but the damage was already done. Some trains ran an hour and a half behind schedule, making this homeward commute a nightmare.

About 6 p.m. southbound train 376 struck an unoccupied vehicle at Broadway in Burlingame. The driver of the car was attempting to make a right turn and accidentally turned onto the train tracks. Fortunately, the driver and a passgenger got out of the car before it was hit by the train. There are no injuries to anyone.

About 6:45 p.m. trains were able to operate on the northbound tracks however, Caltrain is experience major delays. Trains are delayed from 10 to 45 minutes.

Efforts are underway to move the car off the tracks and restore regular service.
