On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 10:33 am, San Bruno Police Officers responded to the report of a hit and run traffic collision in a parking lot near the JC Penney Department Store located on the 1100 block of El Camino Real in San Bruno. A subsequent investigation revealed that a vehicle had struck multiple parked cars in the parking lot. The driver of the involved vehicle had fled the area on foot.
Officers located the driver a short time later, identified as twenty-two year old Jose Rodrigues Perez. Additional investigative efforts revealed that Rodriguez Perez had been driving while under the influence and was in possession of controlled substances. Furthermore, the vehicle Rodriguez Perez was driving had been reported stolen the previous day. Rodriguez Perez was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for charges related to driving under the influence, hit and run, the possession of a stolen vehicle, and the possession of controlled substances. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
