On Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 8:00 p.m., an off duty police officer observed a suspect attempting to remove property from a parked vehicle in the parking lot of “Jack’s” Restaurant in San Bruno. The officer detained the suspect without incident and notified on duty San Bruno Police Department Personnel.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect had been driving a stolen silver Toyota truck, with a stolen utility trailer, just before this incident. The truck and trailer were both reported stolen, in separate incidents, in the South Bay over the last two days.

The suspect was identified as thirty-five year old San Jose resident Leonel Gonzalez. Gonzalez was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for charges related to attempted theft, possession of burglary tools, and possession of stolen vehicles.

The San Bruno Police Department’s Investigative Services Section is investigating this case.
