FREE EVENT - Rancho Day Fiesta at the Sanchez Adobe
Saturday, September 16, 2017 - Noon - 4 p.m.
Sanchez Adobe Historic Site - 1000 Linda Mar Blvd. - Pacifica
The San Mateo County Historical Association will present its annual Rancho Day Fiesta on Saturday, September 16, from noon until 4 p.m. at the Sanchez Adobe Historic Site, 1000 Linda Mar Boulevard in Pacifica.
Sanchez Adobe docents will offer the public the opportunity to take a trip back to the 1840s during this family activity day. A living history event, visitors will be invited to make adobe bricks, stamp leather, dip candles, make corn husk dolls, churn butter, weave wheat and participate in other California rancho-era activities. The Alta California Dancers will be the featured entertainment demonstrating dance steps of the mid-nineteenth century.
While the Historic Site with the adobe house is only 5 acres in size today, when Francisco Sanchez started building his home in 1842, his Rancho San Pedro encompassed some 9,000 acres, essentially all of today’s Pacifica.
A state historic landmark, the Sanchez Adobe is the second-oldest building in San Mateo County. The San Mateo County Historical Association has been interpreting the history of this county park since 1978.
Admission is free with charges for food and crafts. The Sanchez Adobe is located at 1000 Linda Mar Boulevard in Pacifica.
