On Friday, July 6, 2018, at 8:15 p.m., San Bruno Police Officers responded to the Target Store in San Bruno regarding the report of stolen property. Officers learned that the victim had accidentally left a wallet and cellphone on the counter for a short period of time following a transaction. The property was gone when the victim returned to collect it.

A subsequent investigation identified the suspect in the case as twenty-five year old San Bruno resident Omar Diaz, Officers located Diaz on 1st Avenue in San Bruno and took him into custody. Further investigation enabled officers to locate the stolen property and return it to the victim.

Diaz was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for charges related to grand theft.
