The After School Program is Hiring!

The San Bruno Community Services Department is hiring for the 2017-2018 school year for the After School Program. We are looking for Recreational Leaders to assist with homework, lead activities, and plan enrichment classes. Candidates need to commit to working Monday through Friday 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM. Please apply at the Veterans Memorial Building located at 251 City Park Way or call (650) 616-7180 for more information.

Reading Logs and Prizes
June 1-August 31
San Bruno Library
“Turn in completed Summer Reading logs now through August 31. There's still plenty of time to finish your log for your scholarship raffle ticket
Kids through 5th grade read for 30 days, and on completion will receive a free book, eclipse-viewing glasses and a raffle ticket for the $1,000 college scholarship when they finish.
Tweens & Young Adults 6th-12th grade read 5 books and on completion will receive a $5 gift card, eclipse-viewing glasses and a raffle ticket for the $1,000 college scholarship when they finish.
Adults read 5 books and on completion receive a raffle ticket for a $100 gift card sponsored by the Friends of the San Bruno Library.

Enjoy a movie on the big screen while floating in the pool!
$10 per person. Space is limited, so please register at least 2 weeks in advance. 8pm to 10pm.

Concerts at the Rotary Pavilion
Summer Concerts are coming!
Friday Concerts at the Rotary Pavilion will begin on August 4th at 6:00pm and run through September 29th.
The band line-up is as follows:
August 4th – Rebel Yell (Dance Music of the 70’s and 80’s)
August 11th – LaTiDo (Salsa/Bachata/Cumbia/Merengue)
August 18th – The Swampers (Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute Band)
August 25th – Hot Rods (Good Time Oldies 50’s and 60’s)
September 1st – Full House (Old Time Rock and Blues)
September 8th – California Cowboys (Country)
September 15th – Joe Sheldon Band (Dancing through the Decades)
September 22nd – SONA (Rock & Classic Rock)
September 29th – Janel & The Heist (High Energy Dance-Rock)
Concession sales will be provided by the San Bruno Lions Club in August and by the Rotary and Interact Club in September. The San Bruno Chamber of Commerce will sell beer and wine.
Grab a blanket or a chair, your friends and family, and your dancing shoes! We hope to see you there.

Paws For Tales

Community RoomPaws for Tales is the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA's (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) reading to dogs program where therapy dogs and their handlers work with children (ages 5 and up) in library and school settings. Studies show that children who are reluctant to read in front of peers because of their skills are much less anxious with an animal present. Dogs offer unconditional love: they are not intimidating or judgmental. They are the perfect reading companion. Just drop in!
