Human Services Agency Special Announcement Two New Leadership Team Members

Redwood City — The Human Services Agency of San Mateo County is pleased to announce two new members to our leadership team, Karl Porter and Deanna Abrahamian.



Karl will be joining the Human Services Agency as the Assistant Director and Deanna as the new Director of Economic Self Sufficiency. Karl Porter comes to HSA from Napa County Health and Human Services Agency where he served as the Deputy Director of Quality Management and the agency’s Compliance Officer. He has extensive experience with Child Welfare Services, Continuous Quality Improvement, Adult and Aging Services, Probation, and Behavioral Health. He previously served as a Social Services Manager in the CWS Division of Solano County Health & Social Services. “I am excited to be joining the team at the Human Services Agency and look forward to serving the residents of San Mateo County through innovative programs that align with our vision for a healthy, safe, prosperous, and collaborative community.” Karl’s accomplishments include serving as the subject matter expert to the State and Federal governments in two Child and Family Service Reviews; and serving as a subject matter expert on the statewide Children’s Justice Task Force. He also the lead developer of the statewide Probation Placement Core used by the U.C. Davis Center for Family Practices.



Deanna Abrahamian comes to HSA from Butte County Department of Employment and Social Services where she served as the Assistant Director. She oversaw the blended model of eligibility and employment services, Veterans program and Foster care eligibility. Prior to serving as the Assistant Director, Deanna held positions as both an Eligibility worker and an Employment case manager. “I am looking forward to leading the Economic Self-Sufficiency branch at HSA and am fully committed to continuing our high quality of customer service to all eligible San Mateo County residents so they can have access to health coverage, food assistance, and financial assistance to cover basic needs. Some of Deanna’s career accomplishments include implementing the Affordable Care Act and the Call Center, moving Butte County to the C-IV automated system, and starting the CFET program.
