COMMITTEE TO IMPROVE SAN BRUNO SCHOOLS IS LAUNCHED

San Bruno is fortunate to have parents and leaders in the civic and business community who have long supported our public schools. They have stood by the District through fiscal recovery to ensure new systems are in place that will guarantee that the operations of the district are fiscally efficient and effective; they have helped to attract grant and partnership funding to implement new and sustain existing programming for San Bruno children; and, they have supported teachers who have just negotiated with the District another pay increase over the next two years.

Parents and community leaders have joined hands together again and formed the Committee to Improve San Bruno Schools, dedicating time as volunteers to educate the community about the need to rebuild and improve San Bruno’s aging schools, which are 52-76 years old. In the next few months, these volunteers will be knocking on doors to engage residents in conversation about why the District will be asking San Bruno voters in November to support a bond measure to give our children access to 21st century classrooms that support high quality instruction in math, science, engineering concepts, and technology. It has been twenty years since the last bond measure was passed in San Bruno – very different scenario from our surrounding cities.

San Bruno has a beautiful, modern public high school (Capuchino) and the same is true of our community college (Skyline), but our elementary & middle schools are outdated. The Committee to Improve San Bruno Schools is committed to the children of San Bruno that they begin their education in schools that are equipped to give them the best chance for success in a competitive, global economy.
