On August 15, 2018, at 5:55 p.m., San Bruno Police Officers responded to the 1000 block of Montgomery Avenue in San Bruno regarding the report of kidnapping. Officers learned that the adult victim had been forced into a vehicle after having a firearm pointed at him by one of three suspects. The victim was able to escape by jumping from the moving vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

An ensuing investigation identified two of the suspects as 49-year-old Edward Kilifi Vaenuku and 39-year-old Anthony Gomez, both San Bruno residents. Vaenuku and Gomez were later located and arrested and booked at the San Mateo County Jail for charges related to kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.

The outstanding suspect’s identity is unknown and this investigation is ongoing. The outstanding suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 18-19 years-of-age, with short hair and wearing a white t-shirt.

The San Bruno Police Department’s Investigative Services Section is investigating this case.
