Our community's blood supply is declining.
Donations drop in the summer with schools and colleges out of session, both of which serve as major source of donations. Plus, with summer vacations in full swing, fewer donors are making appointments to give.
A lot of people don’t realize that along with emergencies and accidents that happen, there are patients who need blood frequently. Approximately 30% of all donated blood goes to help patients fighting and surviving cancer. When the blood supply dips like this, it becomes very difficult to manage our supply and ensure we're providing enough blood to different hospitals.
