Ms. Shamar Edwards, who served as Capuchino’s principal for the past 10 years, has taken a new position as Sequoia Union High School District’s Alternative Education Director.
Boise has been in education for approximately 12 years, all with the San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD). He began his career in 2007 as a teacher at Hillsdale High School (HHS). Based on his leadership skills and ability to connect with all students, he became the Marrakech House Leader, a teacher leader role for one of Hillsdale’s small learning communities, while also serving as the SMUHSD’s District Social Science Coordinator. He became an assistant principal of San Mateo High School – the SMUHSD’s largest and most diverse high school – in 2014 where he continued to demonstrate his ability to lead a school academically, work in collaboration with staff, and connect personally with families and students. He received his Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from California State University, East Bay in 2014. “I am eager to begin working closely with the Capuchino community to best serve our students,” states Boise. “To me, this position is much more than a job. It is an honor to become the Principal of Capuchino and I look forward to both leading and serving our community.”
As the new principal, Boise will develop strong relationships with students, their families, staff, and the San Bruno community, and will continue the tradition of a rigorous and challenging curriculum, while also ensuring that students are able to balance the challenges of high school with their personal and family needs. “Being a high school principal is one of the most demanding and rewarding jobs in education,” states Dr. Kevin Skelly, Superintendent. “Based on his outstanding work as an assistant principal at San Mateo High, I am extremely confident that Mr. Boise will be an outstanding leader for Capuchino and will build on the present success of the school.”
