San Bruno, CA. May 10, 2018.
San Bruno Park School District Board of Trustees voted at their meeting on May 9, 2018 to appoint Donald C. Smith to the position of Principal at Parkside Intermediate School, effective July 1. Mr. Smith has been Assistant Principal at Parkside since 2016.

“Mr. Smith’s teaching and administrative background have focused on strengthening relationships within culturally diverse school communities. He is well-versed in a leadership philosophy that is inclusive in accomplishing school transformation”, commented Superintendent Dr. Stella M. Kemp.
Before joining the District, Mr. Smith was an administrator at Westborough Middle School preceded by nine years as a teacher of English during which time he led ELD (English Language Development) and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination); at Parkside, he is leading PBIS (Positive Behavioral & Intervention Supports). Last summer, Mr. Smith was principal of the District’s Big Lift Inspiring Summers Program, serving predominantly low income Rising K-1st graders.
“I am truly honored to receive the confidence of Dr. Kemp and the Board of Trustees in providing me with this opportunity to lead Parkside. What attracted me to Parkside two years ago when I joined the District, was the school’s rich history and deep roots in San Bruno community. I am excited to continue to work with the students, staff, parents, and surrounding community to build on Parkside's legacy, embrace its unique diversity, and create an experience for all students where they realize their potential academically and socially”, shared Mr. Smith.
