NEW PRINCIPALS FOR BELLE AIR AND PORTOLA SCHOOLS
San Bruno, CA. July 9, 2018. San Bruno Park School District Board of Trustees took action on June 25, 2018 to appoint new principals to lead two of the District’s elementary schools:

Sheila M. Krotz, Ed.D. joins the District from South San Francisco Unified School District to lead Portola Elementary School.
Ms. Dees, who has extensive background in working with diverse populations of students, is a strong proponent of family engagement in the educational process. She is fluent in Spanish with undergraduate work in Latin American Studies. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, she earned her Masters Degree in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University, advancing to principal positions in San Mateo County, including two years at Parkside Intermediate School. “Beginning my third year in the District, I am enthusiastically looking forward to working with parents and the impressive faculty at Belle Air to accomplish the transformation work necessary for all Belle Air students to succeed”, she commented.
Dr. Krotz received her Doctorate degree from San Diego State University with a focus on reforming teacher preparation for 21st century students. Her background complements the District’s vision for Schools with Tomorrow Inside - creating centers for 21st century teaching learning. A former principal in Southern California before coming to South San Francisco to lead that District’s Big Lift grant program, Dr. Krotz’s teaching career in medical biology, anatomy and physiology included study at Harvard and Purdue Universities in summer specialty programs in microbiology and forensic science. “I am very excited to bring my passion and enthusiasm for 21st century learning to the Portola Elementary School community of staff, parents, and our most important asset, the children”, she shared.
Superintendent Dr. Stella Kemp praised the two appointees as having “experience, commitment and passion that will inspire excellence in teaching, partnerships with parents, and students realizing their full potential for success.”
