Quilt Show

An exhibition of traditional and contemporary quilts will take place at the Sanchez Adobe, 1000 Linda Mar Boulevard in Pacifica, on October 7 and 8, 2017, between 1 and 4 p.m., both days. A bed turning activity will be part of the fun. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free. For more information call 650-359-1462 or go to www.historysmc.org.

While the Sanchez Adobe Historic Site, which contains the Sanchez Adobe, is only five acres today, when Francisco Sanchez started building his home in 1842, his Rancho San Pedro encompassed some 9,000 acres, essentially all of today’s Pacifica. Sanchez was one of the most well-known men in northern California at the end of California’s Mexican era. At one time he was alcalde or mayor of San Francisco, and at the time of the American takeover of California, he led his fellow Californios against United States Marines at the Battle of Santa Clara.

A state historic landmark, the Sanchez Adobe is the second oldest building in San Mateo County. The San Mateo County Historical Association has been interpreting the history of this county park since 1979.
