The by-pass tubes that Brown is endorsing would use 13 million cubic yards of concrete and however much FRESH water to build those tubes that are destined, not to water lawns in desert suburbs, or over water crops in the valley but to provide fracking operations with flushing water.

There are people who think we can REHYDRATE California by individual and community effort using de-desertification techniques used in other parts of the world. There are people who think state government lacks will to move on this solution.

I met these folks through www.sustainabledesignmasterclass

I found using some of their techniques on my suburban, Walnut Creek bee garden dramatically retain soil moisture. The bee garden comprised of cover crops, succulent transplants and some purchased lavender, uses 1/5th of what the lawn needed to stay green and feeds honey and native bees.

Gray water-ready plumbing is being encourage in Sonoma co. rebuilds after the fire and advocates are training building inspectors to recognise good gray water design and encourage adoption of it.

The lack of vision in allowing the deforestation of the east bay hills whose trees capture between 10-13 gallons of water which is dripped on to our water shed annually is frustrating to say the least. Trees, who are decades my senior also slow down dehydrating winds.

Limiting water usage might increase awareness, but one [the govt.] must consider the larger context which would include working towards supporting water cycle in nature, big and small.

Why does someone in Walnut creek read San Bruno Patch?
