There are two requirements for candidates interested to serve on a school board in California. The candidate must be at least eighteen years of age and reside in San Bruno. School board members serve in a volunteer capacity without compensation. “Those who seek out service on school boards inherit rewarding challenges that require difficult choices, ” commented Superintendent Dr. Stella M. Kemp. The Board conducts regular business meetings monthly on the second Wednesday of the month, and special meetings are sometimes necessary throughout the year.

Applications are available both via an online link at www.sbpsd.k12.ca.us or a downloadable paper application. Additionally, paper applications can be obtained at the District Office, 500 Acacia Avenue. The deadline to submit an application is 4:00 pm October 9, 2017. Applicants are encouraged to attend an orientation meeting to better understand the needs of the SBPSD and role of the board members on Thursday, October 5 at 6:00 pm. Interviews will be conducted in the evening at the regularly scheduled public meeting of the Board on October 19th, with appointment of the new Trustee announced that evening.
