On Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at approximately 10:58 p.m., San Bruno Police Officers attempted to stop a gray Dodge pickup truck for a traffic violation on the 1700 block of El Camino Real in San Bruno. The driver initially failed to yield and officers witnessed him throw two suspicious packages out the window. The driver stopped a short distance later.
Officers retrieved the discarded packages and determined they contained suspected methamphetamine. The driver, Joseph Gipson, a 42 year-old resident of Redwood City, was subsequently arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for evading a peace officer, possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of sale, transporting a controlled substance, and for possession of an illegal expandable baton.
