San Bruno CA: San Bruno CA Police Department Report: DUI Saturation Patrol Nets 3 DUI Arrests

San Bruno, CA — Officers from the San Bruno Police Department conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol on Saturday, October 31st, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. in San Bruno. DUI saturation patrols are deployed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public. This patrol was part of the San Bruno Police Department’s ongoing collaborative Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) funded Saturated Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP), which aims to improve traffic safety in San Bruno.

DUI saturation patrols have been shown to lower DUI deaths and injuries. A major component of these patrols are the deterrent effects they have on those who might drive drunk or drug impaired, bringing about more awareness and encouraging everyone to use sober designated drivers.

This DUI Saturation Patrol produced the following arrests for Drunk Driving:

· 24 vehicles stopped and screened

· 5 drivers administered field sobriety tests

· 3 DUI- Alcohol suspects arrested

o Juan Garcia 24-years-old

o Carlos Ortiz 25-years-old

o Liyan Lei 27-years-old

· 8 traffic citations

The saturation patrol was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
