SAN BRUNO PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT APPOINTS NEW TRUSTEE

SAN BRUNO, CA. October 20, 2017. At its public meeting on October 19th, San Bruno Park School District Board of Trustees conducted interviews among three candidates to fill a vacancy on the five- member school board. Andrew T. Mason was appointed to complete the one year remaining on the term that expires November 2018. Mr. Mason will be eligible to run for election as an incumbent next fall. “We were delighted with the caliber of candidates who stepped forward for consideration and welcome Mr. Mason to the Board”, commented Board President Dr. Henry Sanchez.

The parent of two children, Mr. Mason holds MBA and BS degrees. He has nineteen years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry in the areas of manufacturing, operations, data management and international quality and compliance auditing. "I am extremely honored to have been appointed to the San Bruno Park School District - Board of Trustees. I fully recognize the challenges that our district faces and the hard decisions that need to be made moving forward. I also foresee opportunities to enhance educational programming particularly in the areas of STEM and Bilingual/Multilingual education. In closing, my hopes are that my addition to the board will bring with it the following attributes: 1) A more collaborative spirit to the board, 2) Better transparency to budgets and decision making to the public, and 3) A sincere desire to support teachers and staff during this difficult period for our district, commented", commented Trustee Mason.

School board members in San Bruno serve in a volunteer capacity without compensation. “Those who seek out service on school boards inherit rewarding but also difficult challenges that require sacrifice. We look forward to working with Mr. Mason to move the District forward”, commented Superintendent Dr. Stella M. Kemp. The Board conducts regular business meetings monthly on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m., typically held at the District Office, 500 Acacia.
