San Bruno Police Announce Upcoming DUI Checkpoint

Officials remind you to designate a sober driver.

The following is an alert from the San Mateo County Alert System (SMC Alert):

Wednesday evening, December 30, 2015, the San Bruno Police Department will hold a DUI and Driver License Checkpoint to deter impaired and unlicensed drivers.

In California alone, there were 867 deaths and over 23,000 serious injuries in 2013 because someone failed to designate a sober driver. DUI checkpoints, like the one planned for tomorrow, have proven to be effective in not only apprehending violators, but also in educating the public about the dangers of impaired driving.

Please take care to designate a sober driver tomorrow night, and any other time you plan to drink.

Funding for this DUI checkpoint is provided to the San Bruno Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1’.
