Florida Avenue Park Update

For the past several months, the City and neighborhood residents have worked together to develop the design vision for the new park on Florida Avenue. In August, the City was excited to select a contractor to commence construction of the new park we had hoped construction would begin this fall. We have discovered some deficiencies in the design plans that will make it necessary to revise the plans. Unfortunately, the project will be delayed by several months.

Over the coming months, the City will work with the newly appointed landscape architect team leader to address these issues and generate a revised set of construction plans and specifications. The City does not anticipate making changes to the overall design of the park or its features and equipment. The City plans to re-bid the construction project, select a contractor, and begin the park’s construction in spring 2018. The Florida Avenue Park should be completed and ready for enjoyment in late 2018.
